There’s an old proverb that says we have two tongues, the one in our mouth and the one in our shoe. A measure of one’s integrity is whether or not the two tongues are going in the same direction. I work to make sure both of my tongues are going in the same direction.
Having integrity isn’t a plaque on the wall. It is everyday choices between right and wrong, good and bad that determines our integrity. It is staying in communication with friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers so they truly “know” who we are.
Tom Delay’s most recent book said he never met with Democrats while working on Capitol Hill. “The Democrats are my enemies, why would I waste my time meeting with the enemy.” If we view each other as enemies dependent upon whether we are Republicans or Democrats we have little hope to finding solutions to our problems today. We must stop disliking each other based on our beliefs and ideologies in life. We must find the common ground of the issue and collaborate with each other to find solutions that work for the many, not the few.
I am committed to bringing integrity to my leadership. I am committed that as your leader, I will collaborate with others for solutions to the problems that we have today.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I look forward to meeting with you in the next several months and together we will make a difference in 2008.
Thanks,
Deb Lavender
