DEB LAVENDER ENDORSED FOR MISSOURI STATE REPRESENTATIVE
BY TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY DEMOCRATS

Candidate earns praise for commitment to heath care, educational, environmental issues

KIRKWOOD, Mo., February 14, 2008 - Deb Lavender, a candidate for Missouri State Representative, was endorsed by Twenty-First Century Democrats, an organization that works to elect progressive, populist Democrats at the state and local level across the country.

Lavender earned the recognition of the organization through her commitment to issues such as health care, education and the environment.

Deb Lavender has the vision and ability to take Missouri in a new direction. We are excited to work with such a talented individual who is dedicated to building a fair and just society with equality of opportunity for everyone,” says Allen Combs of Twenty-First Century Democrats.

Lavender is seeking to represent the state’s 94th District, which includes Kirkwood and Des Peres. She lives in Kirkwood with her 12-year-old nephew.

“I am proud to have earned the endorsement of the Twenty-First Century Democrats, an organization that supports candidates who fight for America’s working families,” Lavender said.

As a licensed physical therapist who owns an outpatient clinic in Des Peres, Lavender has first-hand knowledge of the issues families face in gaining access to health care, even when they are insured.

“Many of my patients must cope with ever-increasing co-pays and denial of services,” she said. “I will make it a priority to find solutions to these problems.”

Lavender knows her nephew is fortunate to attend Kirkwood’s excellent schools, and she believes all children in Missouri should have quality educational opportunities, including access to preschool. “Children who attend pre-kindergarten programs do measurably better in school and in life than their peers who do not,” she said. “Preschool is a sound investment.” ## When it comes to the environment, Lavender doesn’t just talk the talk: She is a regular at Kirkwood’s award-winning Francis Scheidegger Recycling Depository. “The popularity of the recycling center shows that people will respond when the community makes it easier to do their part,” she said.
